This little town is one of South Africa’s top trout fishing and hiking destinations. The small town also known as eNtokozweni is located in the scenic Mpumalanga province of South Africa and is found at the edge of the escarpment. Being so close to the escarpment we find a landscape with beautiful valleys and rolling hills.
The Elands River runs through the scenic town and during a railroad malfunction a quick thinking station master rescued a consignment of trout by dumping them in the river. This formed the start of the town's subsequent role in Mpumalanga’s trout tourism industry.
The Komati Gorge, notable for its considerable biodiversity and bluff habitats, forms a backdrop to the town. Time around here is spent relaxing at the edge of a river or trout dam trying to land a beautiful Rainbow Trout or hiking valleys that support specialised ecosystems. If after this your spirit has not been restored maybe take time out and visit the natural radioactive spring in the area reputed for its powerful healing qualities.
