Is a tranquil seaside town on the Garden Route. The sandy Central Beach and Lookout Beach have great surf breaks and unpolluted warm water. It is renowned for its unique marine reserves that are home to dolphins and seals, and migrating whales during the summer where there are perfect opportunities to watch them play in the bay from Lookout Beach. The beaches and rivers are a water enthusiast’s paradise.
In addition to the magnificent beaches Plettenberg Bay is surrounded by mountains, indigenous forests and also rugged coastlines. We will explore the Harkerville forest during our stay in Plettenberg Bay and the Keurbooms River Nature Reserve.
The day hike in Harkerville takes you through dense indigenous rain forests with an abundance of Yellowwood trees and slow flowing forest streams. You will encounter seas of tree ferns and even pine plantations before reaching the rugged coastline. Here you will have an opportunity to enjoy a picnic and a dip in the sea. Plettenberg Bay has great and exciting diving which we will have the opportunity to experience and enjoy. While at Plettenberg Bay we will also enjoy a slow paddle up the Keurbooms River to Whiskey Creek to enjoy a picnic under the giant trees that line this incredible river.
Diving in Plettenberg is also magnificent and there are a number of dive sites to choose from.
